Beetle House LA

Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!

Lately pop-up bars have been sprouting up all over LA and I couldn’t be happier about it. It makes the usual bar crawl so much more exciting! Growing up, Tim Burton movies were always among my favorites. Edward Scissorhands and Big Fish were movies I could always turn to for a huge dose of the feels. Beetlejuice and The Nightmare Before Christmas gave you that spooky glimpse into fantasy and you kept coming back for more. His Batman’s are the best as far as I am concerned – I loved that Tim Burton wacky kind  of evil. So When I heard that there was a Tim Burton themed bar called Beetle House in Hollywood, I had to check it out!

You are greeted with this cryptic entrance and then walk into a dark staircase with this awesome “Come as you are…” neon sign at the end. As you walk up to the bar, It is covered in Tim Burton themed art work that has been submitted by artists from all over Los Angeles. There were some really cool pieces all over the bar!

The bar was one of the coolest locations in the place. Not only did it look totally awesome, but they had AMAZING themed cocktails. One we ordered was this fish bowl sized glass that had this light blue, slightly sweet cocktail inside (At this point in the night there was no way I was going to remember the ingredients…). They add dry ice and the drink instantly started smoking – So cool! I am such a sucker for a cocktail with a gimmic like that. If everything I mentioned above hasn’t made you want to get Hollywood right away, then let me tell you that they have a full length mirror wall as you leave. Nothing makes me happier in the morning then going through a million terrible photos of drunk me trying to take a selfie…

An L.A. Romance

edited/exported alreadyedited/exported already

Growing up I always loved to read. Scott S. Fitzgerald, John Steinbeck, Emily Dickinson, and Tennessee Williams were among the few of the more romantic authors that I could read again and again. I love the way each sentence just melts off of the page with each beautiful word, leaving you wanting more. People don’t really talk the way they do in these novels, people don’t do the big romantic gestures like they do. That always made these books very special to me – And now I am still a sucker for a beautifully strung sentence.

When it comes to shopping, Romantic details are something I always gravitate towards. Whenever I wear pieces like these, for the rest of the day I play my encounters back inside my head as if I were in one of those novels. This top has the most beautiful off-the-shoulder sleeves. The rousing of the sleeves gives the fabric more volume and creates a dreamy silhouette. The top is made from this gorgeous lilac satin and is super comfortable and light. Paired with some light wash jeans to keep the look light and poetic. I added a simple chain necklace and my favorite Alex & Ani bangles to finish it off.

Take Me Out to The Ball Game

I absolutely love going to sport events! I am by no means a sports kinda girl, but there is something about being at a game that makes it s exciting. Sports T.V. I find to be  ridiculously boring, but when your in the seats watching a game from the side line it just pulls you in. Chanting ‘Charge!’ and doing the wave are crucial components to the full game experience. Up until this day, my usual experience was from high up in the stands, but today we were watching the game from one of the BMW box suites.

It was pretty much the coolest way to see a game there is. The suite was fully stocked with beers, soda, and tons and tons of food. There was a Dodger dog station where you could top unlimited amounts of Dodger hot dogs with a variety of different toppings. They had chicken wings, a salad bar, and a bunch of other snacks. Later into the game a dessert cart came by the suite and it was loaded with huge cakes and other tempting sweets.

One of the really cool parts about the suite was all of the baseball artifacts they have displayed all around the hall where the suites are located. Unfortunately, we caught the Dodgers in a bit of a losing streak and this game wasn’t any different. They lost by like 8 points which is always disappointing, but we still had such a good time.

Until next time my wild pretty things.

Pretty in Pink

I could literally live in only Free People clothing and die a happy woman. This dress has the most amazing cut to it – grasping you at the narrowest point of the waist and then flowing out. I dare you to try this dress on and not take for a few spins around! The light pale pink color is even more gorgeous in person and I absolutely love the feather details in the fabric.

A Free People dress kind of demands a bohemian inspired shoe. I paired these strapy, fringed heels with the dress for the perfect dressed up boho look. These heels are incredible comfortable despite the fact that they have some good height to them. The look is finished off with a few delicate necklaces and minimal makeup. All outfit details and links to products are listed below and at the bottom of the post. Enjoy!

Adventures at Greystone Mansion

Greystone Mansion is a historical landmark nestled in the ultra exclusive neighborhood of Beverly Hills.  The mansion itself is huge and made up on rich woods and huge stones. The grounds that surround the mansion are lush with beautiful flowers and trees and feature countless numbers of gorgeous fountains. The mansion is open to the public during the day and offers beautiful views and a tranquil space for someone looking to get lost in a beautiful place.

Summer in LA means long warm days basking in the sun. This top with its flowy, breathable sleeves is exactly what you want to wear on a day like that. I am extremely pale skinned (Shocker- I know) so o days like this I love an off the shoulder top to allow my skin take in some of that Vitamin D and maybe some color.

These leggings are super affordable and look great with pretty much anything. They have a zipper up the side so there are no lines running up the front.  I like mixing something light and airy with something a little more form fitting like I did in this look.

These wedges are my go to for summer! The camel color looks great with nearly everything and I love the overlapping straps details. The height is perfect for exploring and even comfortable to wear to work. I paired the look with a few silver Alex and Ani bangles to add a fun element and some jingle.

Greystone Mansion is a beautiful place to get lost for a while when in Los Angeles. Thanks for checking out the post and have a great weekend!

Back to School with Lord & Taylor

Back to school time for me has always meant time to change up my look. When I was a kid, my grandma would always take me to the mall with a budget of $300 and let me pick out new clothes for school. She always encouraged me to pick out at least one piece that I really felt reflected the person I wanted to be for that year. These shopping trips were times where  would reflect on who I was and who I wanted to be – where I could explore my personal style. Over the year, on these shopping trips, I would get all of a girls favorite firsts. My first purse, first lipstick, and my first pair of high heels. Now that I am no longer in grade school I do my shopping solo, but I still love the idea of picking out new pieces to reflect the person I am going to be for the next semester.

Lord & Taylor is one of my favorite websites to shop from and they are currently running a HUGE back to school sale. The pictures below are clickable links to some of my top steals for the new school semester!

June & July Favorites!

The last couple of months have just seemed to fly by so quickly that I just can’t seem to keep up. I took two summer courses that were condensed to 4-weeks long. Because the classes were so short, every assignment covered multiple chapters and was worth a significant percentage of my grade. It was unbelievably stressful, but I managed to get straight A’s! (Yayyy!)

Between school, work and trying to maintain a social life it has been so hard to keep a steady schedule blogging. Thus, here I am doing a June & July combo monthly fav’s (Better late than never, right?)  Through it all I have received so much support through this blog and my social media. Your comments have turned around really awful days and inspired me. I wanted to thank everyone who is following me and to let you know I have some great content and consistent posts planned for the month ahead. Now lets talk June & July Favorites!

Summer is the perfect time to push your personal style and try pieces that might not normally be within your comfort zone. My monthly favorites for the last two months are made up of pieces and details that pop and add some fun to any simple outfit.

Pom Pom Details

IMG_0416 (1)

Who doesn’t love a cute little pom pom?!?! This look was from my California Dreaming post (You can find it here) and is a pom pom double whammy! If your looking to dip your toe into bright pieces like the ones I have linked below, I would recommend pairing them with basics like I have above. Basics create a blank canvas so the colorful pieces can really stand out.

Nude Lipstick

FullSizeRender (15)

For Summer, I  love a beautiful nude lip. With all the bright, fun colors I am putting into my wardrobe I always like to keep my makeup pretty simple. A nude lip enhances your lips to look like the best possible version of your lips. I always go to MAC’s Creme D’Nude which is liked below along with a few other of my favorite nudes (Oh, My!)

Satin Flats

It was love at first sight with these babies! I wear these ALL of the time and get tons and tons of compliments. They’re so easy to throw on and look great with dresses to denim. They also are available in black, which I just ordered. (They were back ordered for the longest time!) How gorgeous are those Sam Edelman’s? ❤

Statement Earrings

It is so hot in Los Angeles during the summer! To combat the heat – My go to look is always a simple airy dress. While practical, this look can get very played out very quickly. Which is why I have been investing in a number of these statement piece earrings. They’re so FUN and they’re the perfect edition to an otherwise simple outfit. I linked a few of my favorites below!

Indian Healing Clay

I already went into great detail about my love affair with Indian Healing Clay in my review (Linked here) – So I will keep it simple. This is the best face mask you will ever use. Period. The end. It’s all natural and will help fix any problem areas you may have. Links to the items you need are listed below!
